Dear Floorball friends,

It is with joy and pleasure, the International Floorball family returns once again to the capital Madrid in Spain for the qualifications in Europe for the 2015 WFC U19 Men. Spain having staged very good international events before successfully, we have high expectations on Madrid. A total of 10 teams are playing for two spots in the final round in Sweden in 2015. I am particularly glad to welcome Ukraine and Belarus to the family taking part for the very first time.

Floorball has taken important steps forward, in order to reach our Vision 2020 and a place in the Olympic Games. The next task is to be ready for 2015, when the IOC chooses the contenders for the “short list” of sports that have a possibility to enter the 2024 Olympic Games. With the new IOC President, Mr Thomas Bach, we see in his vision “Olympic Agenda 2020”, a lot of initiatives, including possible rotations of sports on the Olympic program, and it will be very interesting if the Olympic movement will “dare” to change this at the extraordinary IOC Session in December in Monaco.

Concerning multi-sport events Floorball is successfully now on the World Games in August 2017 in Poland, in the city of Wroclaw. We are also on the Urban Games, in 2016 or 2017, and we will play either 3 versus 3 or 4 versus 4. Taking part in these multi-sports events requires that we really go public, on all levels and communicate the important values that Floorball possess, showcasing Floorball with many spectators, and a good youth oriented atmosphere, continuously having all matches streamed on the internet, because if we can prove to be an asset on an international level, the sport structures will also support us on the national level.

The IFF conveys our gratitude to the city of Madrid, the Spanish Floorball Association, to the President Mr Roldan, and also to IFF Central Board Member, Mr Carlos Lopez for your good management, support and commitment.

On behalf of the entire Floorball family, I greet all the participants; athletes, officials, volunteers, spectators, sponsors and co-operating partners and the representatives of media, heartily welcome to Madrid and the WFC Q Men U19.

Looking forward to seeing you and a thrilling tournament,

Tomas Eriksson
